„According to the Books“? Not With US!

Of course, there are many infrared cameras for many purposes from a wide range of manufacturers. However, only a few of these cameras allow flexible adaptation to measurement and inspection tasks and can be used universally in different fields of application, just like the ImageIR® thermography systems from InfraTec.

Why is that? Read on find out!

ImageIR from InfraTec - Individuality

The Ideal Camera for Every User

With the cameras of the ImageIR® series, we pursue the goal of providing our customers and partners with exactly the thermographic system that provides the best results for their measurement and inspection tasks. That is why all cameras in the series have a modular design. Each model can be configured according to the user's requirements, whereby the performance data can be optimally adapted to the respective application. The ImageIR® can also be retrofitted or modified if measurement requirements change.

Equipment Options

InfraTec Service - thermography lenses

High‐performance Full Optics

High quality precision lenses allow the adaptation of the image geometry to almost every measuring situation. Its performance parameters are calibrated with respect to functionality, quality and flexible application. Due to proper IR-transparent lens materials and high-precision antireflexion coating, the lenses are optimised for different spectral ranges.

InfraTec glossary - Rotating filter- und aperture wheel

Separate Filter & Aperture Wheel – Spectral Thermography

The combination of a separate filter and aperture wheel, allowing a total of 35 freely selectable combinations, is prerequisite for a universal application in measurement tasks with high object temperatures and in the field of spectral thermography. The neutral density filters used for signal attenuation or the combination of spectral filters and apertures reliably prevent interference effects.

InfraTec glossary about motor focus

Motor Focus for ImageIR® Full Lenses – More Comfort

All interchangeable standard lens systems of the ImageIR® series can be combined with a motor focus unit, which is controlled by the camera operating software. It enables precise, remote and fast focusing. In addition, an autofocus function is available which operates reliably even with low image contrasts.

MicroScan feature ImageIR

MicroScan – Quadruple the Image Format

Behind the function is a fast-rotating MicroScan wheel, which is integrated into the camera. It ensures that four different individual exposures are taken per wheel revolution, which are offset laterally by half a pixel each. In this way, thermography achieves a new quality due to thermal images providing a quadrupled spatial resolution.

InfraTec thermography - High-speed Mode

High-speed Mode – Increase Frame Rate and Sensitivity

Due to the binning technology, infrared cameras have two speed modes – the standard mode and the high-speed mode, in which the frame rate increases more than three times. The field of view remains constant in both modes, so the scene captured by the camera does not change. In high-speed mode, the thermal resolution also increases by a factor of two.

HDR – Simultaneous Mapping of Wide Temperature Ranges

The High Dynamic Range (HDR) function of the Infrared ImageIR® camera series enables measurement scenarios with extremely different temperatures to be recorded continuously. When recording in HDR mode, multiple thermograms with different integration times and different filters are recorded quickly in succession and compiled into an overall image with a high dynamic range. The measuring range can span up to 1,500 K. Users obtain high-contrast images in a wide temperature range characterized by high measurement accuracy.

Special Features of an ImageIR® Camera

All models in this series are calibrated radiometrically and equipped with cooled photon detectors of various types (T2SLS, InSb, MCT, XBn, InGaAs), offering different spectral ranges and formats. This enables, among other things, short integration times, high thermal sensitivity and excellent geometrical and temporal resolution for precise temperature measurements, even at highest frame rates.

Infrared Radiation in the Electromagnetic Spectrum

Depending on the camera model, measurements can be carried out in the long-wave (LWIR), medium-wave (MWIR) and short-wave (SWIR) infrared range.
